暑假即將到來，預祝IMPIS的同學們有個愉快的假期。辦公室有幾點公告：

The summer vacation is coming. Wish everyone would have a lovely vacation! IMPIS Office has some notices to share:

1. 暑假 Summer Vacation
   根據本校行事曆，2023年暑假為2023年6月19日（一）至2023年9月10日（日）。若有任何異動，請以學校最新公告之行事曆為準。
   According to NCCU calendar, the summer vacation this year is from June 19th, 2023 (Mon), to September 10th, 2023 (Sun). If there are any changes, please refer to the latest official announcement of university calendar.

2. 辦公室開放時間 Office Hour
   原則為週一至週五8:00-12:00 及13:30-17:00。其中，7月21日起至8月18日之週五為全校共同排休，故7月21、28與8月4、11、18日辦公室不開放，請各位同學避免於上述日期前來辦公室或安排口試。
   Office opening hours are generally 8:00-12:00 and 13:30-17:00 from Mon to Fri. However, starting from July 21st until August 18th, Fridays will be a common day-off for the entire university. Therefore, the office will be closed on July 21st, 28th, and Aug 4th, 11th, and 18th. Please avoid visiting the office or scheduling any defenses on the mentioned dates.
    
3. 學術倫理課程 Course of Academic Ethics and Research Integrity
   若尚未通過學術倫理課程者，請盡早完成；本校系統每個月更新乙次。
   If you have not yet passed the Course of Academic Ethics and Research Integrity, please complete it as soon as possible. The system of our university updates the result once a month.

4. 論文準備 Preparation of Thesis & Defenses
   論文相關規定與流程皆已更新於學程網站，請務必詳讀每一階段之注意事項，以避免造成任何畢業時程延宕等；請注意申請期限，不論原因或身分，學程辦公室不接受任何例外。若您想了解您口試的安排是否合乎學程規定，歡迎來信或傳訊息至LINE官方帳號確認。
   The regulations and procedures of thesis have been updated on IMPIS website. Please carefully read the guidelines for each stage to avoid any delays in graduation or other issues. Please pay attention to the application deadlines as IMPIS office does NOT accept any exceptions for any reason or identity. 6. 暑期打工 Work during Summer Vacation
   暑假預計工作之國際生，請務必確保您持有效期內之工作證。請注意，申請工作證時，身分必須是「註冊」狀態，因此若是八月才預計申請者，須等到學校通知（通常是8月第二週）繳費、校方確定入帳後，始能下載在學證明。請勿在未有工作許可之情況下非法工作。
   For international students who plan to work during the summer vacation, please ensure that your work permit is valid. Please note that when applying for a work permit, your status must be "registered." Therefore, if you plan to apply in Aug, you need to wait for the university's notification (usually on the second week of Aug) to pay the tuition fee and wait for pending before being able to download the enrollment certificate. Please do not work illegally without a work permit.

7. 居留證延長 Extension of ARC (who are going to graduate)
   預計畢業者，您的學籍將在取得畢業證書後，註記為「畢業」。若核發畢業證書次日算起14天內，您將離開台灣，您無需延長居留證，但是如果您會停留台灣超過14天，請記得申請延長居留證，另外注意，此居留證是不可以工作的，不論全職或兼職、不論原有的工作證時間多久。惟有您找到工作、由公司為您申請工作證，方可工作。請勿在未有工作許可之情況下非法工作。
   For those who are going to graduate, your student status will be marked as "graduated" after receiving the diploma. If you will leave Taiwan within 14 days after receiving the diploma, you do not need to extend your resident permit. However, if you plan to stay in Taiwan for more than 14 days, remember to apply for the ARC extension. Additionally, please note that this extended ARC does not allow you to work, regardless of whether it is full-time or part-time or the valid duration of your original work permit. Only when you find a job and have the company apply for a work permit for you, can you work legally. Please do not work illegally without a work permit.

8. 注意自身健康與安全 Health and Safety
   雖然目前全球新冠肺炎已緩和，但仍請各位同學照顧好自己的健康。不論是打工、實習、旅遊或參與各式活動，務必注意自身安全。
   若天候不佳，請同學避免前往危險區域從事風險高的活動，如登山、戲水；尤其台灣夏天可能會有午後雷陣雨或颱風（通常會帶來大潮、豪雨、強風等）。不論有任何計畫，請務必將自身安全擺在第一位。
   Although the COVID-19 situation has improved, please take good care of your health. Whether you are working, interning, traveling, or participating in various activities, please watch out for your own safety.
   In case of bad weather, please avoid going to dangerous areas for high-risk activities such as hiking or swimming. Especially during the summer in Taiwan, there may be afternoon thunderstorms or typhoons (which usually bring high tides, heavy rain, strong winds, etc.). Regardless of any plans, please prioritize your safety.
    
9. 小心詐騙 Beware of fraud
   常見的詐騙包括電話、簡訊、iMessage、email等等，請不要亂點不明網址，也不要隨意操作ATM、借錢給不知名的朋友。不合理、過高薪資的工作也應多注意，不要輕易給出自己的銀行帳戶等資料，以免被利用成為人頭帳戶。
   Common scams include phone calls, text messages, iMessage, emails, etc. Do not click on unknown links, operate ATMs with the instructions on call, or lend money to unfamiliar friends casually. Be cautious of job offers with unreasonable/excessively high salaries, and do not easily provide your bank account or other personal information to someone you do not know.
    
10. 切勿酒駕 Do not drink and drive
    台灣的酒駕規範嚴格，請勿在飲酒後開車或騎車，以免觸法。
    Taiwan has strict regulations against drunk driving. Please do not drive or ride the vehicle after consuming alcohol to avoid breaking the law.
