Principle regulations of the thesis and defenses:

  1. Final defense can only be conducted 4 months or more after the proposal defense has been passed.
  2. Please consider the Lunar New Year holidays and the vacation schedule of your advisor(s) and committee members if you plan to apply for the defenses. Sometimes professors will have the business trip, so if you have a schedule for completing your thesis, please be sure to confirm the timeline with your teacher.
  3. If you are not sure about the regulations, deadline, and so on, please ask IMPIS office as soon as possible. Do not wait until the last minutes.
  4. Your thesis topic must be relevant to international studies domain.
  5. Do KNOW the regulations and deadlines of proposal and final defense. Late applications will NOT be accepted with any reason.

Qualifications of Advisor(s) & Committee Members

To start your thesis writing, you would need to find a professor / professors to be your advisor(s) with the topic or the ideas related to international studies. You could find anyone to be your advisor(s) if they are:

  1. 現任或曾任教授、副教授、助理教授
    Current or former professor, associate professor or assistant professor. (accredited by the Republic of China Ministry of Education)
  2. 中央研究院院士、現任或曾任中央研究院研究員、副研究員、助研究員
    Who has a fellowship in Academia Sinica (Taiwan).
  3. 獲有博士學位,且在學術上著有成就者
    Own Ph.D degrees and has remarkable achievements in academia.
  4. 研究領域屬於稀少性、特殊性學科或屬專業實務,且在學術或專業上著有成就
    The research field belongs to a rare and special discipline or professional practice, and has made achievements in academia or specialty

上述第3、4點認定基準,由辦理學位授予之各系、所、院務會議或學位學程事務會議定之。
The criteria for recognition of point 3 and 4 shall be determined by the departments, institutes, colleges or programs' meetings of each department or institute that handle the conferment of degrees.

Normally, students find NCCU professors as their advisors because they are familiar with NCCU regulations and it is more convenient to find advisors for discussions. but people who fit the conditions mentioned above could be your advisor(s).
