The International Master's Program in International Studies (IMPIS) in the College of International Affairs at the National Chengchi University (NCCU) was established in August 2012 to help serve a global student community. Approximately 20 students from outside Taiwan are admitted each year, and since its inception more the [100[EU1] ] students have successfully completed the program.

IMPIS brings a broad interdisciplinary focus to the study of contemporary international relations, and applies scholarship on international economics, politics, security, conflict, development, and diplomacy to the problems found in an increasingly globalized landscape. The program serves students who are preparing for careers in international organizations, non-governmental organizations, government, and academia, as well as mid-career professionals.

Entrance to the IMPIS program is competitive. An important strength of the program is the political, cultural, and intellectual diversity of its faculty and students. It therefore encourages applications from prospective students who welcome the chance to interact with fellow scholars who bring a variety of understandings, views, experiences, and judgments to the study of international affairs. IMPIS’s focus on International Relations Theory also challenges students to examine and think through their basic methodological and theoretical assumptions, and the program welcomes students who have a strong background in this area.

While IMPIS students generally take courses outside the program, and are encouraged to take advantage of NCCU's premier Mandarin teaching facilities to begin learning Mandarin or to further their Mandarin language skills, all IMPIS courses are taught in English. The program’s capstone Master’s thesis must also be written in English. English language proficiency is therefore required.

IMPIS students are eligible for a variety of scholarships, and prospective and current students are encouraged to apply for any scholarship (whether administered by Taiwan or their home country) for which they are eligible. However, success in obtaining a scholarship is not a guarantee of admittance to the program.
