Congratulations to Mr. Napat Vechkama for achieving second place in the 2023 Master's and Doctoral Thesis Awards organized by the Taiwan Southeast Asia Association. His thesis, titled "Explaining Changes in Thailand's Government-Military Cooperation, 1992-2022: A Structural Explanation," received this honor. The entire faculty and students of the International Master's Program in International Studies extend their congratulations!

The Public Sphere Journal at the London School of Economics and Political Science is pleased to announce that submissions for the 2024 issue are now being accepted. The Journal seeks submissions on the overarching theme, "Inclusive Governance and Diversity in Policy". The title suggests a comprehensive exploration into integrating diverse voices and perspectives in public policy decision-making processes, advocating for holistic and equitable solutions. We welcome contributions in the form of policy essays, policy briefs, and photo essays. The submission deadline is October 20, 2024.  Please refer to the attached document for a detailed understanding of our theme and the submission guidelines. The 11th Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition, organized by the Singapore Management University, is held every two years. It invites university students, entrepreneurs, and young people with ideas and creativity from around the world to participate in solving global challenges. Due to the competition's registration period coinciding with the UAiTED International Competition, this year's registration deadline has been extended to the 17th. The organizers have stated that the first 50 teams to enter the finals will be invited to Singapore, and their airfare and accommodation will be fully covered. The event information is provided by UAiTED. The finals will take place from September 11th to 15th. After arriving in Singapore, the finalist teams will participate in a week-long immersive startup activity to familiarize themselves with the startup and industry environment in Singapore. The organizers will arrange for the teams to establish connections with investors, businesses, government agencies, successful entrepreneurs, and technical experts from across Southeast Asia and seek opportunities for cooperation between the finalists and startups in the region. The organizers emphasize that competitors will have the opportunity to receive the following rewards: Prizes worth up to SGD 2 million (equivalent to TWD 46 million). Round-trip airfare and accommodation subsidies for September 11th to 15th. New startup guidance provided by relevant businesses and government agencies. Establish connections with investors from across Southeast Asia. Opportunity to promote products in the region. A week-long immersive startup activity. The annual forum provides a platform for the presentation of new advances and research results in European Studies. The forum is organized to provide an international platform for scholars, researchers, and students to share their research findings with experts. This year we reach out and invite speakers to submit contributions discussing how Europe evolved during the recent crises (Ukraine war, Covid-19 global pandemic, climate crisis, energy crisis, global supply chain disruptions) and aim to strengthen resilience.  Over the past years, we realized that previously walked paths have either failed to bring the wished results or had negative side effects. Since continuing the old paths is not feasible anymore it is time for Europe to open new chapters (“Zeitenwende”) for embracing a more resilient future. Europe has to acknowledge that new approaches are needed to ensure a future based on democratic values, and a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for its people driven by an innovative and prosperous economy. Given that crises can set free forces for changes to undertake previously unthinkable steps.  European countries and the EU needs to re-think their directions and adjust their policies in numerous fields. This forum aims to identify in what areas European actors seek to walk such new paths, breaking with the past and opening new chapters to promote resilience.  Resilience – understood as the ability of a system to absorb and recover from external shocks by adapting and transforming to address long-term changes and uncertainties – can be achieved in several ways and includes many issue areas. From national security, energy security, to climate action, public health, education, social welfare, economic restructuring, to digitalization efforts.  The forum welcomes contributions from various disciplines (political sciences, economy, sociology, educational studies, environmental studies, etc.) to reveal emerging patterns on how European actors (states, organizations, regions, etc.) have responded to challenges and are seeking to lay the foundations adjusting their policies, institutional structures or strategies. 2018 Taiwan International Cooperation Forum on Higher Education was held in National Chung Cheng University in Chiayi on Arpil 20, 2018. The ICDF invited Professor Dong Sun Park as keynote speaker of the morning session. He is the President of Institute of APEC Collaborative Education, Republic of Korea. In the afternoon, discussion sessions with reputable scholars from managerial levels at varied universities introduced interesting point of views regarding the prospective of high education in Taiwan. The ICDF program manager and scholars in the IMPIS were invited to attend the conference. See photo!
